With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
After narrating to us the story of Yusuf, the sura ends off with a verse setting out the purpose for which Allah revealed these stories and that is for mankind and believers in particular to reflect upon and derive lessons therefrom.
Verse 111: “There is, in their stories, instruction for men endued with understanding. It is not a tale invented, but a confirmation of what went before it,- a detailed exposition of all things, and a guide and a mercy to any such as believe.”
In the case of Yusuf we learnt several lessons such as keeping resolute and having trust in Allah despite difficulties, preserving our moral values despite temptation, remaining humble despite material success and power, forgiving others despite them causing us harm, applying one’s skills to benefit society and using every opportunity to make da’wah to people. This is what made Yusuf truly exemplary for all generations.
And that concludes the story of Yusuf. Tomorrow we commence with Sura Ra’d inshallah (chapter 13).
