Abraham’s dua

In verses 35-41 we read  the dua that Ebrahim (AS) made.  As parents we are concerned about the well being of our kids, their safety, financial success etc.  Although Ebrahim (AS) does ask for these things as well, pay attention to the opening in his dua (concerning his children).  He asks Allah to save his children from associating partners with Allah.  He recognises that to become subservient to anything else other than the one true God, Allah, or to become idolaters is the most grievous sin before Allah SWT and leads to social chaos as well.  With this dua, he shows that he is not only concerned for his kids material success but for their spiritual success as well.

Verse 35 “And Remember Abraham said: “O my Lord! make this city one of peace and security: and preserve me and my sons from worshipping idols”
