Surah Nahl (16) 05/09/2015

With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Outlawing oppression of women and infanticide
Verse 58-59: “When news is brought to one of them, of (the birth of) a female (child), his face darkens, and he is filled with inward grief!” With shame does he hide himself from his people, because of the bad news he has had! Shall he retain it on (sufferance and) contempt, or bury it in the dust? Ah! what an evil (choice) they decide on”
The Arabs were ashamed of their female infants, at birth they either buried them alive or retained them with much dislike.  Allah (SWT) exposes this evil practice and outlawed it.  By doing so, the Quran restored the dignity of the girls and upheld the right to human life for infants as well.
Continues tomorrow. InshaAllah . . .
