With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Sura 17 (Bani-Isra’il)

Verse 61 “Behold! We said to the angels: “Submit unto Adam”: They submitted except Iblis: He said, “Shall I submit-to one whom You created from clay”

Allah has bestowed the role of khilafat to mankind and in doing so Allah endowed mankind with a special status above all of His creation.  Iblees’ refusal to submit was based on arrogance, he thought he was better than Adam (AS), much like apartheid South Africa, apartheid Israel etc where one class of people think they are superior to others, thus leading to oppression.  As a result of Iblees’ disobedience he became Shaytaan (the rejected one) and he defies Allah in verse 62 saying “…….If You give me respite to the Day of Judgment, I will surely bring his (Adam’s) descendants under my sway – all but a few!”.  Thus the challenge of good versus evil begins and in verse 64 we are told what methods Shaytaan uses.

Continues tomorrow…
Salaam/Peace
