With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Sura 26 (Shuaraa)
The Poets in the era of Nabi Muhammad were the most influential people of their time. They influenced public opinion and were highly respected.
26.221-226: Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? They descend on every lying, wicked person, (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them:
Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- And that they say what they practise not?-
These poets were ideal tools for Satan’s forces to mislead. Allah SWT discloses their characteristics – they deceive people, they do not practice what they preach and can be found spreading mischief and corruption everywhere.
Similarly we must beware of modern day poets that aim to take us away from the concepts taught by the Quran: Politicians, philosophers, scientists, priests, clairvoyants, entertainers, etc, may fall into this category.
