Surah Ahzab (33) 06/03/2016

With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Verse 6:
“The Prophet is closer to the Believers than their own selves.  And his wives are their mothers.  Blood- relations among each other have closer personal ties, in the Decree of Allah than (the Brotherhood of) Believers and Muhajirs. . .”

The Prophet (SAW) is closer to the believers in terms of his spiritual care and concern for them- see sura 9 verse 128 “…it grieves him that you should perish: ardently anxious is he over you. . .” What it also conveys to us is that the message of the Prophet SAW takes precedence over our whims and desires.

The second part of the verse refers to how the Ansar of Madinah helped the Muhajir emigrants. It highlights the the strong brotherhood that was prevalent in the  Muslim  ummah, something that we should  aspire to today.
This bond was a key to the success of the believers.  However we are reminded at the same time that blood relations have established rights in the Book of Allah SWT which cannot be overridden by the ties of friendship.

Let us maintain our relationship with our families which includes their right of inheritance in our estate,  their right to be cared for etc.

Continues tomorrow InshaAllah

Salaam/Peace
