Surah Fatir (35) 25/03/2016

With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Sura 35 (Fatir)

Allah’s creative mastery

Verse 1 “Praise be to Allah, Who created (out of nothing) the heavens and the earth, Who made the angels, messengers with wings,- two, or three, or four (pairs): He adds to Creation as He pleases: for Allah has power over all things”

The Sura gets its title from Verse 1 which shows Allah’s majestic power and skill to create and fashion the most complex of things such as the universe and then to keep this complex structure in perfect balance and harmony for countless number of years.   When this mastery and skill is properly considered through scientific study, it leads us to being in awe and reverence of our Creator and hence the use of the word “al hamd”.   The reference to Angels with wings two, three or four is an indication of the multiple tasks that are assigned to Angels and the verse appropriately concludes by alluding to Allah’s power over everything.  This should instil in us humility before Allah SWT and a desire to serve Him as our true Lord and Master.

Continues tomorrow InshaAllah…
