With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Sura 45 (AL-Jathiyah)
Being in awe of Allah SWT
“Then Praise be to Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth,- Lord and Cherisher of all the Worlds”
This Sura concludes aptly by reminding us that all praise belongs to Allah SWT. However the praise is not an empty or mechanical one, it is a state we arrive at through contemplation. The word hamd implies being in awe of something and it is followed by “Lord of the heavens and the earth”. Upon close contemplation of the innumerable forces that govern the heavens and the earth and keep it in perfect motion and harmony, this leads us to be in awe of Allah SWT. This awe and reverence of Allah SWT should lead us to become subservient to Him and serve Him in a state of “hamd” or awe.
