With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Sura 47 (Muhammad)
Believers as compared to disbelievers
The sura is named after Allah’s final messenger Muhammad SAW whose name is found in verse 2.
“(As for) those who disbelieve and turn away from Allah’s way, He shall render their works ineffective. And (as for) those who believe and do good, and believe in what has been revealed to Muhammad, and it is the very truth from their Lord, He will remove their evil from them and improve their condition.”
Allah (SWT) opens this sura by describing to us the worthless effort of the disbelievers and the worthy state of the believers. The word kufaar is understood to mean people who make a conscious decision to reject the Truth after being presented with it. As a result of their rejection, all their works are rendered ineffective. To the contrary, the believers not only believe in Allah but also do good and accept the Quran as absolute Truth from Allah (SWT). As a result Allah SWT improves their condition.
As believers let us strive to act upon the laws and requirements of the Quran to ensure an improved condition in society.
