With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Surah 48 (Fath)
Duties of the Prophet (SAW)
Verses 8-9: “We have truly sent thee as a witness, as a bringer of Glad Tidings, and as a Warner: In order that ye (O men) may believe in Allah and His Messenger, that ye may assist and honour Him, and celebrate His praise morning and evening.”
These two verses highlight the duties of the Prophet (SAW). Verse 8 is repeated in many other places highlighting the witness of the Prophet (SAW) of his mission and message (see S25:V30) on the day of Judgement; the bringing of good news of Heaven and blessings and lastly the warning of Hell and destruction. Verse 9 highlights further essential duties and it is very clear that the Prophet (SAW)’s mission was primarily to bring humanity closer to Allah (SWT). Such that belief is embodied in the divine message, lives are directed towards assisting the promulgation and adoption of Allah (SWT)’s words and also honouring the commitments due to the Creator. Lastly the Prophet (SAW)’s mission was also to direct humanity to be reverent to their Creator and none other.
