Verse 7: What Allah has bestowed on His Messenger (and taken away) from the people of the townships- belongs to Allah- to His Messenger and to kindred and orphans, the needy and the wayfarer; in order that it may not (merely) make a circuit between the wealthy among you. So take what the Messenger assigns to you, and deny yourselves that which he withholds from you. And fear Allah; for Allah is strict in Punishment.
The verse provides guidance on the distribution of gains received by the Believers. It is important note that the reason given for this re-distribution of wealth is to prevent monopolies (in order that it may not (merely) make a circuit between the wealthy among you). The people of the Thamud were similarly destroyed for their monopolistic behaviour (see S54 V27-30). Ensuring economic balance is a key message of the Quran.
The re-distribution of wealth raises the risk of ill feelings, jealousy and suspicion of favour, however this is clarified. The believers are instructed to follow the Prophet (SAW) in his implementation of the re-distribution as it is not a matter of choice but the commandment of Allah (SWT).
