With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Sura 63 – Munafiqun
Worldly pleasures should not distract us from our true purpose
“O ye who believe! Let not your riches or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. If any act thus, the loss is their own.”
Allah (SWT) reminds us not to get caught up by worldly distractions of “riches” and “children”. We should not be obsessed with the pursuit and accumulation of the material things of this world. We are cautioned to adopt a balanced approach without losing sight of our ultimate objective ,ie To serve Allah SWT by being beneficial to Humanity.Likewise, our families are endeared by us and our love for them should not cause us to violate Allah’s commandments nor should it cause us to act unjustly. Simply put, Allah (SWT) reminds us not to get caught up with anything that would distract us from observing His laws or distract us from our noble objectives of establishing a just and equitable society (Islamic society). If we fail to do so we will not experience the true peace and tranquillity but instead our lives will become full of social, economic and political turmoil.
