Sura Talaaq (65) 07/11/2016

With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Sura 65 (Talaaq)

The divorce process (2)

65.2 – Thus when they fulfil their term appointed, either take them back on equitable terms or part with them on equitable terms; and take for witness two persons from among you, endued with justice, and establish the evidence (as) before Allah. Such is the admonition given to him who believes in Allah and the Last Day. And for those who fear Allah, He (ever) prepares a way out,

The verse follows the previous guidance on the divorce process. Two very important messages are given. Firstly the seriousness of the matter requires that the final decision on the divorce process either to remain together or separate requires witnesses to the decision. It is of similar significance to the solemn decision for marriage which also requires witnesses.

The second important message is that for those that have Taqwa Allah ever prepares a way out. God consciousness is frequently mentioned inh the context of marriage and divorce and is the secret ingredient to a happy and peaceful union and when necessary disunion.
