With the name of Allah most kind most merciful
Sura 66 (Tahrim)
Verse 10 and 11
*Allah’s laws of justice apply equally to all*
“Allah sets forth an example to those who disbelieve the wife of Nuh and the wife of Lut: they were both under two of Our righteous servants, but they acted treacherously towards them so they availed them naught against Allah, and it was said: Enter both the fire with those who enter. And Allah sets forth an example to those who believe the wife of Firaun when she said: My Lord! build for me a house with Thee in the garden and deliver me from Firaun and his doing, and deliver me from the unjust people”
After counseling the wives of the Prophet SAW to remain committed to Allah’s cause, Allah SWT concludes this sura by citing the examples of the wives of Lut and Nuh who chose to be evil and were destroyed as a result thereof. Their relationship with their husbands (who were God’s messengers) did not avail them against Allah’s punishment. We learn from this that Allah’s laws do not change for anyone. Allah SWT then tells us of the wife of Pharaoh, and Maryam both of whom remained righteous despite great challenges. In this way, Allah SWT encourages the wives of the Prophet SAW to support his mission. We also learn of the importance of working as a family unit towards righteousness and spouses should support each other in this regard.
