Surah Ra’d (13) 11/08/2015

bismi_65

With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Verse 37. “Thus have We revealed it to be a judgment of authority in Arabic.  If you were to follow their (vain) desires after the knowledge which has reached you then you would not have any protector or defender against Allah.”

Two points to note:

  1. The Quran is a judgement of authority,  this simply means that the Qur’an should serve as our filter or litmus test to determine right from wrong and factfrom fiction.  Do we see the Qur’an in such a light.  Yes – The Qur’an (Allah’s final word to humanity) should be the final word on all matters.
  2. Allah then gives us a clear warning.  Since His path is towards peace and justice, if we are to follow other people’s opinions or desires instead of His truth, we will experience turmoil and will have none to defend us against the consequences of our wrong choices (by choosing people’s opinions over Allah’s law we will invite the wrath of Allah).

Lesson to learn:

Keep to Allah’s law and keep studying it so you know what He expects of you.

That concludes sura Ra’d.  Tomorrow we start with Sura Ibrahim inshallah.

Salaam/ Peace.

Ever wondered what would happen In the next world with our close ones. No need to wander – read on…

Verse 23 & 24 Gardens of perpetual bliss: They shall enter there, As well As the righteous among their fathers, their spouses, and their offspring: and angels shall enter unto them from every gate (with the salutation): “Peace unto you for that ye persevered In patience! Now How excellent is the final home!”

There is one condition – “…the righteous among..”

We have a lot to do in this world to see this reality in the next world

Surah Ra’d (13) 09/08/2015

bismi_65

With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

A sobering verse – we cannot and should not call on anyone but Allah (SWT). Anything else is powerless – a mirage in comparison. Our duas are for Allah alone and calling on others is futile.

S13V 14. for Him (alone) is prayer In truth: any others that They call upon besides Him Hear them no more than if They were to stretch forth their hands for water to reach their mouths but it reaches them not: for the prayer of those without Faith is nothing but (futile) wandering (in the mind).

Shirk is the highest wrongdoing.

Surah Ra’d (13) 08/08/2015

bismi_65

With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

In comparing truth to falsehood Allah sets forward a beautiful parable, in verse 17.

“He Sends down water from the skies, and the channels flow, Each according to its measure: but the torrent bears away to foam that mounts up to the surface. Even so, from that (ore) which they heat in the fire, to make ornaments or utensils therewith, there is a scum likewise. Thus does Allah (by parables) bring foward truth and vanity. for the scum disappears like froth cast out; while that which is for the good of mankind remains on the earth. Thus doth Allah set forth parables”.

The torrent represents Allah’s truth,  AL Quran, it comes as a powerful torrent and exposes the shallow beliefs of the kuffaar.  Likewise the Quranic law signifies the intense heat that melts away scum and leaves only what is pure.  That’s how Allah’s law works,  it removes the scum and brings about purification for those who want to be purified.

Surah Ra’d (13) 07/08/2015

bismi_65

With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Verse 12& 13. It is He who does show you the lightning, by way both of fear and of hope: it is He who does raise up the clouds, heavy with (fertilising) rain! Nay, thunder repeats His praises, and so do the angels, with awe: He flings the loud-voiced thunder-bolts, and therewith He strikes whomsoever He will..yet these (are the men) who (dare to) dispute about Allah, with the strength of His power (supreme)!

Much to reflect on: Fertilizing rain or on coming destruction? Isn’t revelation a message of fear and hope too? Ever paused to listen to the awesomeness of the thunderclap – surely our Creator is far greater than we truly appreciate!

A striking request with an equally stunning answer.

“the unbelievers say: ‘Why is not a Sign sent down to him from his Lord?’ But you are truly a warner and to every people a guide.”

They asked the Prophet (S) to produce a sign(miracle) – that was not his purpose, it was simply to warn and guide using the revelation and this was to be for all people.

Surah Ra’d (13) 05/08/2015

bismi_65

With the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

The Surah gets its title from Verse 13 where Allah speaks of thunder being in awe of Him (“Nay, thunder repeats His praises”) telling us that all the forces in nature are not only subservient to Allah but are in awe of Him.

The Surah opens with Allah informing us that the Quran is the truth from Him but many among mankind do not believe in it.  Verse 1 “A.L.M.R. These are the signs (or verses) of the Book: that which has been revealed unto you from your Lord is the Truth; but most people believe not.” In verses 2-4 Allah turns our attention to the wonders in nature and if we reflect carefully upon them we will become convinced of Allah’s limitless power to resurrect us and call us to account for our actions on the day of Judgement.   Verse 3 “…He has subjected the sun and the moon (to His Law)! Each one runs (its course) for a term appointed. He doth regulate all affairs, explaining the signs in detail, that ye may believe with certainty in the meeting with your Lord.”
