Surah Anbiyaa (21) 11/11/2015

Sura 21 (Anbiyaa)

Verse 105:  “Before this We wrote in the Psalms, after the Message(given to Moses): My servants, the righteous shall inherit the earth.”

The governance of the earth rightfully belongs to the righteous.  This law was laid down in all the books of Divine wisdom. The Quran repeatedly warns the unbelievers that the righteous servants who were made to suffer persecution would eventually be masters of the land.

Also see:
(24:55)”Allah has promised, to those among you who believe and work righteous deeds, that He will of a surety, grant them in the land , inheriance (of power) as he granted to those before them.”

Sura 21 (Anbiya)

021.092 “Verily, this brotherhood of yours is a single brotherhood, and I
am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore serve Me (and no other).”

This sura gives us brief narratives of many of the prophets. In fact it is
named “the prophets”. All the prophets preached one universal message i.e.
to serve Allah alone. This implies that we as an ummah should also function as a single brotherhood.  We should unite around the message of Allah and not accept any authority that contradicts His authority.

003.103 And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out
for you), and be not divided among yourselves…

Sura 21 (Anbiya) Verse 62-3

Using reason to make Dawah

They said, “Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?” He said: “Nay, this was done by – this is their biggest one! Ask them, if they can speak intelligently!”

This is an example of how reason and logic can be used to demonstrate the futility of shirk. The idols were supposed to be their protectors, yet these idols  could not even protect themselves nor testify as to who destroyed them.

See also Surah 7 Verse 197 “But those ye call upon besides Him, are unable to help you, and indeed to help themselves.”

Sura 21(Anbiya)

Don’t be in a hurry

021.037 Man is a creature of haste: soon (enough) will I show you My Signs; then ye will not ask Me to hasten them!

Man is impatient by nature. He hankers after instant gratification. That is why he is often deceived with Shaitaan’s false promises. On the other hand Allah’s promise is true, but we have to be patient and wait for Allah’s plan to unfold.

031.033… Verily, the promise of Allah is true: let not then this present life deceive you, nor let the chief Deceiver deceive you about Allah.

Sura 21(Anbiya)

The Truth of revelation
Verse 30  “Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?”

Science confirms that the universe was a singularity. Then there was an explosion called the “Big Bang”. The second part of the verse reveals a remarkable truth in the physical world; that water is the source of all life.  Protoplasm, which is the living substance that makes up a cell, constitutes 75-80 percent water. The Quran addresses the unbelievers with regard to these scientific facts to convince them of the Divine origin of the Qur’an.   Also in doing so Allah encourages the seeking of scientific knowledge.
3:190 “Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day,- there are indeed Signs for men of understanding”

Sura 21 (Anbiya)
Intercession
Verses 28
021.028 He knows what is before them, and what is behind them, and they offer no intercession except for those who are acceptable, and they stand in awe and reverence of His (Glory).

Allah’s knowledge is All-encompassing. On the day of Judgement, every individual will be responsible for their own actions. Those who are given the permission to intercede will only say the truth.

020.109 On that Day shall no intercession avail except for those for whom permission has been granted by (Allah) Most Gracious and whose word is acceptable to Him.

Sura 21 (Anbiyaa)

Truth vs Falsehood(Haqq vs Baatil)

Verse 18:  “Nay, We hurl the Truth against falsehood, and it knocks out its brain, and behold falsehood does perish! Ah! Woe be to you for the (false )things you ascribe( to Us)”

In this verse Allah uses very powerful imagery to illustrate how truth crushes falsehood. Whatever emanates from Allah is the Truth and shirk is the greatest falsehood. However powerful falsehood may appear to be it is bound to vanish. There are many examples in the Quran of the ultimate triumph of Truth (eg. The story of Moosa(AS) and Firaun).

 Sura 21 (Anbiyaa)

Judgement Approaches

The sura begins with a warning to those who are heedless of their accountability.

Verse 1:  “Closer and closer to mankind comes their reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away.”

Man is on a journey towards his  “hisaab” .  Being conscious of your accountability and being conscious of your “hisaab” is like being conscious of your exam.  Consciousness of accountabilty is the driving force that leads one to righteous deeds.
