Sura Tur(52)

Allah (SWT) reassures the Prophet(SAW)

52:48 Now await in patience the command of thy Lord: for verily thou art in Our eyes: and celebrate the praises of thy Lord the while thou standest forth”

Allah (SWT) informs the Prophet(SAW) that the unbelievers will be defeated and instructs him to continue observing the Divine commandments with perseverance.

Allah SWT also reassures the Prophet(SAW) that he is under Allah(SWT)’s care. As believers we are faced with pressures from enemies of Allah (SWT)and we should also remain resilient like the Prophet SAW for Allah will ensure our eventual victory.

Sura Tur (52)

Allah(SWT) appeals to mankind’s reasoning

52:35 Were they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators?

52:36 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief.

Whilst the rejecters were basing their religion on superstition and blind following, the Quran came with open scientific facts and appealed to the faculty of reasoning. When we contemplate upon the creation of the human being and the creation of the universe and the earth with all its complexities it leads us to believe that this was not by accident and involved a super intelligent design. These verses encourage us to use our faculties of reason and call people to Allah using a rational basis.

Sura Tur(52)

The Prophet(SAW) was accused of fabricating the Message

52:33 Or do they say, “He fabricated the (Message)”? Nay, they have no faith!
52:34 Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth!

The rejecters after accusing the Prophet(SAW) of being possessed and being a poet now accuse him of fabricating the message, in other words having authored it himself. Allah (SWT)presents a simple challenge to them, as Muhammad(SAW) was human Allah asks them to produce a similar Book as the Quran, matching not only its style but its content as well. With its vast scientific evidence which could only come from a Divine being matched with its poetic style, this was and remains an impossibility for any human to produce. This alone should cause people to take its message seriously. However, due to the arrogance of the rejecters they persist in refusing to accept its message.

Sura Tur (52)

Verses 29-30

False accusations against The Prophet(SAW)

52:29 Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed.

52:30 Or do they say:- “A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!”

The rejecters could not deal with the sheer brilliance and universal appeal of Allah’s message. They could not curb its spreading and nor could they prevent the growth of Islam. As they could offer no challenge to the words of Allah SWT, they began accusing the Prophet(SAW) of being possessed or given to great poetic abilities. These accusations were contradictory in nature and shows the desperation of the rejecters in trying to subdue the message of Allah SWT. Allah SWT clears the Prophet SAW of these accusations and tells him to keep on with the glorification of Allah (SWT) despite these hurdles.

Sura Tur (52)

Verse 21

On the Day of Judgement the righteous will be united with the pious among their family members

52:21 “And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds.”

Allah reminds us of the fact that we will be held individually accountable and each person’s entry to jannah must be earned through righteous action. On the day of Judgement believers will only be united with the righteous among their family (13:23). We learn from the story of the Prophet Nuh (AS) that his wife and son were unrighteous and as a result could not be saved. Hence Allah SWT tells us to save ourselves and our families from jahannam and this can only be done through righteous action.

Sura Tur (52)
Verses 7-10

The destruction and confusion on the Day of Judgement

Verse 7-10: Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;-There is none can avert it;- On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. And the mountains will fly hither and thither.

On the day of judgement the earth as we know it will be destroyed and mankind will be in terror. On this day the realisation of accountability will dawn on those who rejected the message. This will bring about great regret and sorrow to the rejecters and each one will be concerned for their individual salvation.

Cross reference- Surah 22 Verses 1-2:
O mankind! fear your Lord! for the convulsion of the Hour (of Judgment) will be a thing terrible! The Day ye shall see it, every mother giving suck shall forget her suckling-babe, and every pregnant female shall drop her load (unformed): thou shalt see mankind as in a drunken riot, yet not drunk: but dreadful will be the Wrath of Allah.

Sura Tur(52)

The Day of judgement will surely occur.

52:1 By the Mount (of Revelation);
52:2 By a Decree inscribed
52:3 In a Scroll unfolded;
52:4 By the much-frequented Fane;
52:5 By the Canopy Raised High;
52:6 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;-
52:7 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;-

Allah (SWT) opens this sura by taking an oath on the truth of divine revelation, the universal appeal of divine worship, the starry skies and the deep ocean. Allah (SWT) reminds that as certain as the above evidences are to the naked eye, so it is certain that the Day of Judgement will surely come to pass, where man will be held accountable for their actions.
