Sura 47 (Muhammad)

The result of hypocrisy and the remedy for it

Verse 23 and 24

From verse 20 the topic of hypocrisy and drifting away from the Quran is introduced. Certain believers resisted the command to help defend the Islamic state. They followed their own vain desires and as a result the truth became obscure to them. Their faculties of hearing and sight could no longer grasp the truth.

Verse 23
“Those it is whom Allah has cursed so He has made them deaf and blinded their eyes.”

The only remedy for such a problem is to make Tadabbur of the Quran. Tadabbur implies an intense and sincere study of the Quran and following it respectfully.

Verse 24
Do they not then reflect on the Quran? Nay, on the hearts there are locks.

Let us remember to be of those who sincerely study the Quran and follow it respectfully.
